The obverse of this Roman coin shows a bust of Constantius II (reign a.d. 324-361) as Augustus wearing a helmet and armor and holding a spear and shield. On the reverse are the goddess Roma and the god Constantinopolis seated and holding an inscribed shield. The reverse of Roman coins depicted subject matter such as military victories, images of heirs of the ruling family, depictions of the gods (as in this coin), or religious themes.
