Macrocrinus and Onychocrinus are crinoids. Also known as sea lilies, these marine animals are characterized by a mouth on the top surface that is surrounded by feeding arms. These Mississippian Period crinoids lived in dense communities within a shallow sea or delta environment in what is now west central Indiana. They feed by filtering small particles of food from the sea water with their feather-like arms.
