Traces of Time: Fossils from the Collection
July 25, 2009 to October 24, 2010
In the Pennsylvanian Period, there were extensive swamp forests across the equatorial areas where large parts of North America and Europe were then situated. The many species of Pecopteris comprised much of the plant life in these forests. In life, these tall, tree-like ferns grew in elevated areas of the coal-forming swampland.
